Two Middle School Students Awarded In State Writing Competition
Isabel Blair and Delia Tanzi Buchbaum, awarded Honorable Mention for their submissions to the 2018 Write Rhode Island short fiction competition.

This past Sunday I had the privilege of sitting in a serene gallery at the Newport Art Museum to see two of our 7th graders recognized for their writing. Isabel Blair and Delia Tanzi-Buchman were each awarded a Notable Mention for short stories they submitted to Write Rhode Island‘s annual state-wide short fiction competition for 7th – 12th graders hosted by School One and Goat Hill of Providence. Isabel and Delia were two of only 20 stories to receive awards from the 161 stories submitted. Of those 20, ten were awarded to 7th – 8th grade students and ten to 9th – 12th grade students.

Having taught both Isabel and Delia in Upper Elementary, and read their stories through the years, it was a proud moment to see their works published in the Write Rhode Island anthology. Please join me in congratulating Isabel and Delia, as well as Auburn Cole their Humanities teacher who gave encouragement and support through the writing process. A copy of all the winning submissions, The Write Rhode Island Anthology is available at the school for your perusal.
